Big Bull Creek Park, located between Edgerton and Gardner, Kansas, is the largest park in the Johnson County Park & Recreation District (JCPRD), spanning over 2,000 acres. Opened in September 2018, the park emphasizes nature-based learning, play, and restoration, offering a variety of outdoor activities for visitors of all ages.

Bridgewater Lake is a serene 2.5-acre neighborhood lake nestled in Edgerton, Kansas. Ideal for fishing and nature watching, it offers a peaceful retreat for residents and visitors. Access is conveniently provided via the sidewalk just north of the lake, near the intersection of W. 7th Street and W. Martin Street. Please note that swimming is not permitted.

This 2.23-acre neighborhood park is located at 422 E. Washington. Its playground unit is handicap accessible with a great number of features. This park has a walking trail that connects to the Gardner Greenway System and other amenities that include a picnic shelter and barbecue grill that are available for rent. This parkland provides a variety of uses for children and adults in the community.

This 83-acre community park is located at 32501 W. 159th Street (the corner of 159th and Kill Creek Road). This park and sports complex has baseball fields, soccer fields, concession stands/restrooms, shelters/picnic tables, barbeque grills, playground, walking/jogging trail, 10-acre lake, and large passive open areas for a variety of uses for children and adults in the community.

This 4.05-acre community park is located at 215 North Center. Cornerstone Park offers many features and services to the public. Its newly built playground unit is handicap accessible with a great number of fun features for kids. The park has three picnic shelters, two of which can be rented, amphitheater, restrooms, a looped walking trail and it is adjacent to the Gardner Aquatic Center. This parkland is the perfect place for a birthday party, family reunion, church gathering or just a place for your kids to run and play. You may also find yourself at Cornerstone for a Gardner Parks and Recreation event such as Christmas in the Park, Santa’s Workshop and more!

Edgerton City Lake, also known as Santa Fe Lake, is a serene 7-acre reservoir situated just north of Martin Creek Park. Established in the 1890s to accommodate passing steam engine trains, it has become one of Edgerton’s most popular leisure destinations. The lake offers opportunities for picnics, fishing, and small, non-gasoline powered boating. Swimming is prohibited.

A central park in Ottawa offering a variety of recreational amenities. Forest Park is located on the northwest corner of town. It is notable for its mature oak and walnut trees and its array of recreational facilities. Included are a 475,000-gallon full size municipal swimming pool, 5 lit tennis courts, 18 individual horseshoe courts, 1 basketball court, a lit baseball diamond and a lit softball diamond, a disc golf course throughout the park and five playgrounds including a “tots’ lot”. In addition, there are three restroom facilities in the park. Forest Park hosts several community events each year, including the Ole Marais River Run (a custom car show), the Power of the Past Antique Tractor and Engine Show, and Chautauqua Days (a July 4th celebration). There are eight shelter houses throughout the park and are provided with electricity and a small grill.

Freedom Park is a small neighborhood park on East 3rd Street between South Mulberry and South Sycamore Streets. Directly adjacent to the Pickleball Courts, this playground is composed of a composite structure designed for children 5-12 years old. It has a bay of swings, climbing structures and slides and Poured in Place surfacing.

This 1.6-mile walking trail is one of the most unique features of the Gardner Greenway System.  This parkland is connected to both Winwood Park and Brookside Park. Parking is available off of Madison Street.  The Gardner Greenway Corridor was designed for the enjoyment of people with disabilities and the general public alike. Special features include park benches that were donated by Sprint and a looped walking trail that can be used for walking, jogging, bike riding or rollerblading.  During the summertime don’t forget to pay special attention to the trees and wildflowers. The Gardner Greenway Corridor is one of Gardner’s special spots for a quiet stroll.

Martin Creek Park is a 20-acre recreational area in Edgerton, Kansas, developed through a partnership between the Johnson County Park and Recreation District and the City of Edgerton. It offers a variety of sports facilities, a walking trail, and a fenced-in off-leash dog park, making it a popular destination for outdoor activities.

This 0.9-acre neighborhood park is located at 311 W. Main. Its playground unit is handicap accessible with a variety of uses for children in the community. This parkland features two picnic areas, which includes a shelter and barbecue grill that are available for rent. It is the perfect place for a Sunday picnic!

This new 11-acre park is located at 475 S. Stone Creek Drive (Stone Creek Drive and Stone Creek Circle). In 2004 the Parks and Recreation Department worked with residents in the Cottage Creek, Pumpkin Ridge and Wildcat Run subdivisions at master planning a neighborhood park. The park opened in 2005 and includes many exciting features such as a large playground unit, picnic shelter, trails and landscaping.

Sunflower Nature Park is a 57-acre natural space located just south of K-10 Highway near Edgerton Road in De Soto, Kansas. The park offers a variety of outdoor amenities suitable for families and nature enthusiasts.

This 4.64-acre community park is located at Center & Pawnee. It features a veteran’s memorial, 2 inclusive playground units and looped walking trail. Additional amenities include park benches and parking lot lighting. Available for rent are its full size basketball court, large shelter with eight picnic tables, barbecue grill and restroom facilities. This parkland is the perfect place for a birthday party, family reunion or any large gathering.

Walton Park is a small neighborhood park located on Walton Street between Cherry and Burroughs Streets. It offers a composite play structure for children ages 5-12 years, and shaded picnic table area.

This 11.85-acre complex is located at 321 Bedford. The area features four baseball/softball fields, basketball goals, two sand volleyball courts, shelter/picnic area, BBQ grills and restrooms, all of which are available for rent. The parkland also has playground equipment and a memorial. Thousands of children and parents of softball and baseball teams come through the park each year. It is used for recreational sports as well as adult and youth softball and baseball tournaments.

This 3.23-acre neighborhood park is located at 520 North White Drive. This park has two playground units and a looped trail that ties in with the popular Gardner Greenway System.  Winwood Park features a 20 x 30 picnic shelter with a limestone seat wall and is available for rent.  This parkland is perfect for a Sunday picnic or small gathering.  Or, you may find yourself in Winwood Park during the Gardner Parks and Recreation Earth Day Celebration!
